Oldham Town hit rock bottom

Oldham’s other team, Oldham Town of the North-West Counties League, have rewritten the FA Cup record books for the wrong reason when they crashed to a 17-1 defeat against Stocksbridge Park Steels in Sheffield on Saturday. The
margin of defeat was the 10th biggest in the 131-year history of the competition and the heaviest since Ferryhill Athletic beat Skinningrove Works 18-0 in 1954.

Steels striker Paul Jackson became only the second player in FA Cup history to reach double figures when he found the net 10 times. Town’s assistant manager Paul Hession, who had the consolation of scoring his side’s goal from the penalty spot, said: “It was horrendous and definitely my worst moment
in football.” Former Athletic player, Richard Graham, is the manager of Town.
