Stephen Robinson is still hoping to sign a goal scorer after having an offer for Kilmarnock's Josh Magennis turned down. The Rugby Park club openly criticised the Latics in the press saying they had offered a derisory £50,000 for Magennis, whom they rate highly.
Killy's director Billy Bowie commented, “It's laughable. Oldham are pleading poverty and it certainly looks that way judging by their offer. As a club we are in the business of developing our players and selling them on to make money - but if we had let Josh go at that price the fans would have shot us. You see other players going for good prices so I can't understand why it hasn't been that way for Josh. This is a player who just a couple of months ago was playing at the European Championship finals. So how Oldham thought we'd entertain an offer like that is beyond belief.”
It remains to be seen if the Boundary Park club raise the offer to try to obtain his services.
