Athletic youngster Ben Smith has signed a contract extension to the end of September which gives him a further chance to impress the coaching staff and earn a more permanent stay at Boundary Park.

While......goalkeeper Paul Rachubka, who had a three-month loan spell at Boundary Park last term, has joined Premiership side Charlton for £200,000. Twenty-one year old Rachubka realised that he had little future at Manchester United after they signed teenager Luke Steele from Peterborough.
