New striker possibility for Northampton game

John Sheridan is hopeful of bringing in a new striker before Athletic travel to Northampton Town next Sunday. It is unlikely that the club will sanction any transfer fees but they will make money available either for loan or for permanent signings. Chris Porter and Paul Warne have shared 26 goals this season but there is a need to provide backup in case of injury and also to keep the pair on their toes.
Robbie Winters has impressed Sheridan whilst he has been training with Athletic but he is not match fit as he hasn't played competitive football for several weeks. Ironically Winters has now taken up with Bristol City although Athletic could still make a move for the 32 year old striker as he is a free agent.
Sheridan said of Winters, “Robbie is a good player, but at the moment he's miles off being fit. I need someone who can come in straight away."
