Murray is one of the fastest players at the club

Midfielder Paul Murray has appeared in court for speeding and has narrowly escaped a driving ban which will probably save his job in the bargain. Murray lives in Lostock Hall and would probably be kicked out of the club by the administrators if he had to travel to and back from work for four hours every day.

The defending magistrate said, “He is in the twilight of his career with his contract due to finish at the end of the season and he would find it difficult to get a job elsewhere. The hardship that would be inflicted upon him and his family in this final year of his career would be great as it is likely he would be thrown out by the administrators.”

Murray was caught driving his BMW at 93 mph on the A303 at Tintinhull in Somerset. He already had nine points on his licence and was fined £300 with £35 costs. His licence was also endorsed with four points.
