More Premiership teams join the hunt

Both Liverpool and Aston Villa have joined the hunt for Athletic’s hot prospect Fitz Hall. Scouts from both teams were at the Bristol City game watching the 21-year-old defender in action. Former Liverpool great Ron Yeats was representing the Liverpool team who were on European duty. Hall fell to the ground clutching his knee during the game but it was not as bad as it was first thought and he is expected to be fit for the visit to Colchester.

Dowie, commenting on the victory said, “A lot of teams will come here and try to stop us playing, so it can’t always be exciting stuff. Bristol City are the best side we’ve faced this season and they played us man-for-man, but we still created five chances. We kept the ball well after they went down to 10 men and I thought David Eyres and Dave Beharall did a fantastic job on the left. Then Lee Duxbury came up with a great challenge near the end to stop the result slipping out of our hands – it’s great credit to the lads for winning a very tough game.”
