More injuries...

Now John Eyre has a knock. He was being subbed after 61 minutes against Colcester with a hip injury. Although he was doubtful before the game, he had to play because of Athletic's growing injury crisis.

The list of the walking wounded now reads:
Les Pogliacomi
Mark Bonner
John Eyre
Chris Killen (surprise, surprise...)
Mark Arber
Dave Beherall
Matty Appleby (he's bound to get injured sooner than later, with his lack of luck...)
Wes Wilkinson has also been doubtful.

And when you take into account Talbot has inexplicable loaned out Scott Vernon to Blackpool (and scored twice for them last Saturday. Why does Talbot moan about not having enough players when he sends players of Vernon's quality to Blackpool???), the fact that JJ and Rodney Jack have been on international duty regularly too this season - added to the fact that Michael Clegg and Ernie Cooksey have been paid off and left the club - means that Oldham's already meagre squad is looking as threadbare as some of my socks.

Trainees are being forced into first team action too early, when they should really be given the chance to prove themselves in reserve team action first. There were three trainees (Charlie Treacy, Kelvin Lomax and Matty Barlow) were on the bench for the Spurs cup game, and the latter two warmed the bench for Saturday's clash against Colchester.

Is there light at the end of the tunnel though? Hopefully. Keeper-of-many-clubs Andy Marriot is appearing for the reserves Wednesday hoping to earn a short-term deal, and David Lee is currently training at Boundary Park.

The former Spurs and Southend midfielder has been at Brighton, but only made 6 appearances in 3 seasons for the Seagulls.

And hopefully Brian can bring in a few loan players who can make an impact like JJ did when he first arrived at Boundary Park.
