Moore next for the hot seat?

Rumours are abounding that Ronnie Moore, the ex-Rotherham manager, could be the next person to take the hot seat at Boundary Park. If Moore is prepared to take on the role on a short term basis the job could be his, at least until the end of the season. Moore watched the game at Huddersfield and with 12 league games and the second leg of the LDV Trophy at Wrexham to play, whoever takes over would need to ensure League One safety if they are to have any chance of making the position permanent.

This sounds like a good compromise by the Three Amigos and means that they would not need to commit to a long term appointment which, as history has demonstrated, could be costly to the club. Moore worked wonders on a shoesting at Millmoor but they need a miracle to save them from relegation this season and he left the club last month after seven successful years as boss.

When Moore left Rotherham their Chairman Peter Ruchniewicz stated, “We have agreed an amicable parting of the ways. We are all relieved that we have patched up our differences - it would have been awful to have parted on a sour note - with Ronnie of all people. On behalf of the Club and all of its supporters, the Board wishes to express its appreciation at Ronnie's enormous achievements in gaining successive promotions to the Championship and retaining that status for so long against all the odds. We have every confidence that Ronnie will soon be given the opportunity to pursue his career with another Club and we wish him every success for the future.”

Simon Corney told the Chronicle, “Every game is crucial, so it would be nice to have someone in before we play Port Vale on Saturday. We’ve heard from dozens of people, including some surprise candidates, and it might happen in the next couple of days if we find the right man and agree terms. I’m not saying there will definitely be an appointment and it would be unfair of me to name names.”

The only down side to this deal, should it go through, is that Moore prefers the ‘route-one’ style of play, one not too popular with many Latics fans. A more worrying fact is that we all remember what happened at the club when the last time we had a Mr. Moore in charge.............Hmmmmmm.
