He told the Chronicle, “I am convinced this club can go on the up from here. The three owners are progressive people, something I have not experienced in the past. They are ambitious and want to bring Championship football to the club, and that is where I want to manage again. It is a wonderful place to manage as there are some great teams in the division. We have had a chat and I would like to stay that I am optimistic if we can agree the finer details such as the length of a contract. I don’t want this to drag on and I am hopeful something can be finalised by early next week.”
