Moore axe continues to fall

Tony Carss is the latest (this is getting monotinous) player to leave Boundary Park as Chris Moore continues to sell off the crown jewels. After holding out as long as he could he reluctantly signed a two year deal at Huddersfield Town. Carss made 84 appearances in almost three years at the Latics. I think Moore is on a mission to try to get into the Guinness Book of Records. He will soon have sold more players than Mr. Beeching closed down stations with his famous axe, an axe that has somehow been found by Moore.

A disgusted Carss left the club with a parting shot at Mr. Moore though, as he said, “The players are being treated like cattle. It shows how far we’ve sunk when a busload of staff have to make a protest – there’s a lot of resentment around the club and I’m no exception. Mr Moore is doing nothing at all to help, and the sooner he gets out of there the better."

"He was given tremendous support at first, but I’ve come to realise that you can’t believe a single word he says. You can’t rely on him for anything. As soon as he lost interest in the club and the people – which he obviously has – there was trouble. He arrived with big ideas of Premiership football and redeveloping the ground, but the whole thing hit a brick wall. It has become more like a cattle market than a football club. He is getting rid of players when they would love to stay – he is forcing them out unwillingly. I managed to hang on for nine weeks after the season ended, and I wanted to stay despite Colchester and Huddersfield offering much, much better terms. In the end, I’ve been wrenched away."

"It was unavoidable and you have to feel for the lads left behind and also for Iain Dowie, who is battling away when most managers would have left. The fans have been fantastic and I want to thank them. I wanted to spend years with Oldham because I love the place and I’ve made it my home. That might have happened if someone else had been in charge, but this bloke has made a complete mess of it. There was always a danger of the wheels coming off if he decided to pull out and, sadly, that’s exactly what’s happening.”

Another blast came from Iain Dowie as he prepared for the friendly at Lisburn Distillery when he said, “It will be nice to concentrate on what we do for a living. We’ll try a few different formations because, thanks to a certain owner, we aren’t as strong in defence as we were.”

Next in line to depart could be Julien Baudet who is currently training with first-division Rotherham United. Oh when will it all end!
