Steve Mildenhall (pictured), who broke a bone in his hand during the match against Sheffield Wednesday, will not play again this season. Mildenhall has recently disposed regular keeper Les Pogliacomi from the first team spot is dreadfully unlucky and the news is that he may need surgery.

The young keeper’s contract is due for renewal at the end of the season and Ronnie Moore said, “Steve has been unlucky because he waited for his chance and did reasonably well when he came into the side. I’ll have to make a decision on his contract from what I’ve seen so far, but it would be unfair to comment any further. It just shows how things can turn around because Les will come back in on Saturday and get another chance of his own. After Les we’re struggling. The only other ’keeper is a 17-year-old, so we’ll have to get out the prayer mat and hope for no more injuries.”

As Pogliacomi’s reserve goalie, Charlie Treacy, is currently out of action with mumps first year trainee Terry Smith will take a place on the bench for the trip to Barnsley.
