Alan Maybury has joined the Latics as assistant head coach to Harry Kewell. The former Republic of Ireland international has coached at Hibernian, Falkirk and St Johnstone. He played for Leeds United, Hearts, Leicester City, Aberdeen and Colchester United and also earned 10 caps for the Republic of Ireland between 1998 and 2005.
Harry Kewell commented, "I've been looking to bring something different in and worked well with Alan previously at Crawley for a couple of months. I loved what I saw back then and he likes to focus on the defensive side of my team. He's got great experience, he's played at the top level and worked in coaching for a number of years. He's very determined, opinionated and that's what I need, someone to challenge me. So overall, he'll be another great addition to this club and we've had a good first week working together again."
