Mawson offered short term contract

Craig Mawson has been offered a short term deal by the Latics. Having just completed a two week trial he has impressed, particularly in his last outing for the reserves against Blackpool when he saved two penalties. Mawson travelled as back-up keeper in Athletic’s team at the KC Stadium where they failed to impress against a Hull team which looks as if it’s going places.

Manager Brian Talbot said, “Mawson signed on Saturday for a month long contract and we'll have a look at him. Les (Pogliacomi), by his standards is going through a difficult time and Craig's got to put him under pressure. He's got a month but he's never played at this level. He can't do more than he's done, he's played well in the reserves, he's trained well and I'll have another look at him on Wednesday against Manchester City.”
