Lomax pens new deal

Kelvin Lomax has signed a new long-term deal with the club which will keep the 21 year old at Boundary Park until 2011. A delighted Lomax told Latics World, "I'm over the moon and absolutely made up with this news. My contract was up at the end of the season, as a few of the other lads' are, and I've been lucky enough to get a new deal. To be honest it was a surprise, because when I first came back to the club I was only signing three month contracts. But I feel at home here and I'm delighted to stay for another three-and-a-half years. Now I need to knuckle down and get on with things. Being released wasn't a nice feeling at all but you can't give up and have to keep going."
"Luckily I got that chance with Shez and I hope I can make people think I've taken and made the most of that chance. I'm sure the manager wouldn't have brought me back if he thought I couldn't do a job, and I speak to Simon Corney and get on well with him. I can't thank Shez enough because he, along with Tommy Wright and Lee Duxbury, has shown great faith in me and hopefully I can repay him. Now I want to really show just how grateful I am on the pitch."
