Liverpool show interest in Eardley

Rumours are around that Liverpool are interested in the Latics full back Neal Eardley. Liverpool have been tracking the exciting young prospect since his days in the youth team and have had him watched in every league game that he has played. The youngster has played just four league games, has already played in the Welsh under-21 side and has put in some impressive performances in his senior outings with the first team. Eardley has not yet signed a professional contract, something that Athletic are likely to do very soon to ensure that they protect their interest in the development of the player.
Given his debut in the final game of last season, Eardley is now the first choice right back. If Liverpool make a move for him in the next transfer window, Athletic will be looking for a similar deal which took Scott Spencer to Everton. They received around £200,000 up front which could rise to in excess of £600,000 depending upon appearances. There may even be a sell on clause similar to the deal which took Micah Richards to Manchester City.
