Ling happy enough with result

Leyton Orient manager Martin Ling was happy enough with the 1-0 win over the Latics. He told the official Orient website, "It was really good for a 30-minute period. We got a great goal during that and then it turned into an hour-long scrap. I wouldn't say it was backs against the wall, but they did have a lot of possession and we had to put our bodies on the line. And with our record of conceding goals recently, a clean sheet is really welcome."

"I keep getting asked why the team aren't scoring and I don't know the answer. We don't set them out to do things differently in the first half to the second. I do think that our fitness levels are massively important to us. We work hard on that and I think that could be the reason why we get goals in the second half, but it doesn't answer why we don't score in the first half. So it's nice to get our noses in front and hold onto a lead rather than having to come from behind."

"They didn't get to see the whites of our goalkeeper's eyes, even though they had more possession in the second half. Nelse did what he had to so very, very well and I think he will be more than delighted with the clean sheet, but every single player did their defensive duty today. We work on both sides of the game together in training, we're not just about attacking, and our defensive work was excellent this afternoon."
