Kieran Lee is leaving Athletic and is expected to sign for newly promoted Sheffield Wednesday. He declined the club’s offer of a contract extension and although manager Paul Dickov wanted to keep the promising 23-year-old, he was desperate to play at a higher level. Wednesday have been promoted to the Championship and one hopes that Lee will not just be warming the bench as the Owls have several good players who play in the same position as Kieran. Maybe his new manager has another role in mind.
Simon Corney wished Lee his best and said,“We gave Kieran an offer but in Sheffield Wednesday we are talking about a Championship club who attract 27,000 fans to every home match. No club in our division can compete. When some players move on you are annoyed because you feel they owe you something, but that is not the case with Kieran at all. I honestly could not be happier for him.”
