Latics to renew interest in Horlock?

Conflicting stories are coming out of Boundary Park over Northern Ireland International midfielder Kevin Horlock. Horlock is 33 and formerly played with West Ham, Swindon and Manchester City before joining former Latics boss Joe Royle at Ipswich. His loan period at Doncaster expires next week and Latics manager Ronnie Moore said, "If we’re going to keep playing three central midfielders, and it’s a system which is working well, we could do with an extra body. The three who are playing at the moment (Butcher, Hughes and Wellens) are doing okay, but we’ll be struggling if one of them gets injured. Jason Taylor is waiting for his chance, but we’re already using two young kids in Chris Taylor and Chris Hall. I’ve made some enquiries, although the cash flow situation might mean somebody going out before anybody else comes in. Horlock was too expensive for us last time, but you never know when things might change. There’s no desperate rush because the deadline is March 23, but if there’s a player who can really improve your squad, you have to go for it. I would hate to miss the play-offs by a couple of points and end up wishing we’d signed a certain player.”
The other side of the coin states that, "Horlock’s a quality player and so is Jim Magilton. It’s that type of player we need but we’ve got to get someone out to get someone in because we’re losing more money than the owners thought they were going to." The inference is that someone will have to leave if Athletic are to make a permanent signing as opposed to taking another player on loan. Horlock is reputed to want high wages which throws another spanner into the works for the Athletic owners.
