Ormerod's deal will include in seven league games and the FA Cup first round game. After making a name for himself the 31 year old moved into the Premier League with Southampton in a £1.75million deal and spent five years with the club before going out on loan to Wigan and Leeds. He then move to Preston in 2006 and he has scored 14 goals in 68 appearances. Last season, Ormerod moved to Nottingham Forest and helped them to win promotion from League One.
With Lee Hughes struggling with a groin strain it is likely that Ormerod will be handed his debut and he is looking forward to it. He told Latics World, "I had no hesitation in coming here when I was told about the move. I want to be more involved and that's why I've chosen to come here. I heard about the move over the weekend but it didn't get agreed until I went to see the Preston manager yesterday. Oldham is a good club - it always has been - and I'm here to help them get to where they want to go."
"At this stage of my career I didn't want to be travelling around the country sitting in stands every week. But I know I can't expect to just walk straight in the side, especially following a 4-0 win last weekend. I just want to be involved in and around more regularly. All I can say is I'll do my best. We've got a lot of good players here and Oldham have been there or thereabouts for the last couple of seasons. Now I'm looking forward to the Leicester game. I know one or two of the lads there - Matt Oakley was with me at Southampton - and it's a big game."
