Frankie Bunn stuck by his men and made just one change from the team that lost to Newport County last Saturday. Daniel Iversen was the only exception as he made his return from international duty with Denmark under-21s, having kept two shut outs for them.
The first half was better forgotten as it was a dour affair with few chances at either end although the signs were there. Surridge changed that in the second half with two goals within minutes of each other. His first came 63 minutes in when he stroked a low shot into the corner of the net. His second was a very similar execution and it visibly made the Grimsby Town players drop their heads. Iversen was instrumental in keeping another clean sheet with some quick thinking but Jose Baxter put the game to bed when he came off the bench to head home the third goal from a Dan Gardner centre to clinch a useful 3-0 away win.
