Paul Dickov has signed striker Daniel Taylor from Newcastle United and he commented, “Daniel comes highly recommended by Peter Beardsley which isn't bad, is it? I watched Daniel play last season and saw the potential he had. He was a player we had earmarked for a possible loan this season only to be informed he was being released by Newcastle. Daniel is 6ft and he holds up the ball well, as well as being a good finisher. He is only 19 but has a lot of potential as well as a great attitude and level headed for somebody of his age. Daniel realises what we are trying to achieve here with a group of young players and we are trying to play football the right way. We are excited to have him on board and hopefully he will help spread the goals, as last season we relied too heavily on one person. However, I hope fans appreciate there are likely to be times when his form dips due to his age and lack of experience.”
Peter Beardsley said of the player, “Dan's future development opportunities would have been limited at Newcastle due to the strategic plan for our development squads. I feel that given the right opportunity Dan can have a very good future in the game and will develop further into a very good player. Dan's size and strength does not reflect his young age and he has a very good goalscoring record. I have had the pleasure of working with Dan for a number of years and his approach and attitude to both training and games has been first class. His development has been steady and this has been demonstrated in his ability to score goals at every level he has played.”
