Former Welsh International goalkeeper Andy Marriott has been offered non-contract terms at Athletic. His current deal at Coventry runs out on October 5th. and the Latics are hoping that he will be released from that contract. Marriott has played at 13 clubs and has recently been at Portuguese Premier League side Beira Mar, the side where Clyde Winjhard was. Brian Talbot said, “Andy is an experienced ’keeper. He should be training with us today and we will take things from there. I took him on loan at West Brom when he was 18 and he has had a good career since then, so hopefully he would do a job for us.” If Marriott impresses it could be a straight fight between him and Craig Mawson, as Athletic will only keep one back-up goalkeeper when Les Pogliacomi returns to full fitness.
