As expected, the potential buyers of Athletic are ready to pump another £200,000 into the club for the November expenses and will therefore keep an exclusive right to hold talks with the club. The still un-named duo are expected at Boundary Park next week and their solicitor is currently controlling all negotiations.
Jon Newell (Administrator) said, “It wouldn’t make any sense for them to pay out again if they didn’t have every intention of moving forward. There are still some matters to deal with, but we should be able to tell the next Football League meeting that funding will continue. Player contracts are fixed for this year and gate receipts won’t change dramatically, so I’m sure these people will want to look at next season. It will probably involve them owning the stadium and they need to decide how they go about that.”
Everyone concerned with the well being of Oldham Athletic are confident that the club will soon be in the hands of the two American based businessmen and expect that the wealthy new owners taking over will now become a formality.
