The 23 year old hot shot cost £100,000 and a sell on clause will see former club Bury receive a share of any profit on the player. As a result, Athletic are unlikely to consider any offers below £600,000 as the cost of replacing Porter with a proven marksman means that it may not be in the interests of releasing the highlt rated hot prospect.
Simon Corney mentioned, “We've got a lot of clubs asking about Chris Porter. He's bound to attract attention because he's having such a good season but we would love to keep him here. Basically, we've got no desperate need to sell, so it's not as though we are under any pressure. All players have their price, but if John Sheridan tells me he wants Chris to stay at the club, I'm confident that's what will happen. Eventually it will depend on Chris himself. It's up to him whether he re-signs here. We haven't made him an offer yet but he knows how we feel and it's only a matter of time before we sit down and discuss it, probably in the next couple of weeks.”
