The Latics have finally signed Birmingham City's Neil Kilkenny who will come on loan until January 1st. The 21 year old former Latics loanee played a crucial part in Athletic's avoidance of relegation in the 2004-05 season when he made 34 appearances whilst scoring five times.Kilkenny began his career with Arsenal before joining Birmingham in January 2004. After his loan spell at the Latics he still struggled to hold down a first team place in Brum's promotion winning team of last year. Athletic had to fight off stiff opposition from the likes of Ipswich Town and Cardiff City and the youngster is highly though of as well as being on the verge of International action.
He played for England at youth level but then decided to play his International football with Australia, as he was eligible due to growing up in Brisbane.
