Boundary Park has been bought back by Oldham Athletic Football Club. The purchase will ensure that both football and rugby will continue to be played there for at least the next ten years. The removal of the administration order on the old club enabled Athletic to use the “buy back" clause which was agreed with OPP. The planned ground improvements can now be started.
David Hibbert (Cabinet member for Regeneration Councillor ) said, “The sale of the ground back to Oldham Athletic is a milestone for regeneration in the Borough as local people are passionate about sport and deserve the best facilities to watch their football and rugby teams continue to win in the future."
Howard Sykes (alternate director of OPP) said, “This reflects the great commitment the Council has for both football and rugby, and all sports across the Borough. We fully recognise the value of professional sport in Oldham Borough, in boosting the profile of our area and promoting community confidence and cohesion.”

A delighted Alan Hardy said, “This is a great day for sport in Oldham. The sale means that plans for the redevelopment of Boundary Park can now be considered. This will lead to more finance being injected into the club. We are delighted for both the club and its fans, who have continued to show Oldham Athletic immense support. I would also like to put on record our appreciation to one of our Directors Ian Hill of Ryder & Dutton who handled the negotiations on behalf of the private investors.”
