Manager John Sheridan told the official website, "We gave a great account of ourselves. We matched a very good team for an hour, and were different class in the first half where we should have gone in ahead. The turning point was probably Chris Porter's chance just before the break, but I can't speak highly enough of the lads. Unfortunately their first was a wonder goal, and to be fair Wolves showed their class in the end. I've told the lads in the dressing room to get their heads up. I'm very proud of them and we're going the right way. If we play to the same standard in our League games, we'll do alright."
Latics bow out of FA Cup
The Latics bowed out of the FA Cup at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers although they held their own for a major part of the game. They had the better in the opening half when striker Chris Porter should have done better with a good chance from a header. Wolves came back and got goals through Darren Potter and Craig Davies to set up a mouthwatering derby at home to West Bromwich Albion.
