Expect to be searched when you enter Boundary Park this season. Following the recent terrorist attacks in London the Latics have beefed up their security policies. Alan Hardy told the official website, “Police have no specific intelligence to say that football is a target for terrorist but we have to be on our guard. We will continue to carry out individual searches on supporters entering the stadium and to assist in this operation we would ask that supporters do not bring bags to the stadium. Our search operation may mean that fans could be delayed in getting into the stadium and we would ask them for their patience and possibly to arrive earlier than normal in order not to be held up by the operation of additional security measures. We ask for fans to be patient but trust that they fully understand the measures we are taking.”

The Latics Safety Officer added, “There is nothing for fans to get alarmed about. We are introducing additional measures for their safeguard and I must add that there is no known specific terrorist threat to football. Supporters are encouraged to remain vigilant at all times and report anything suspicious to the nearest steward.”
