Manager John Sheridan enthused, "Obviously I know Neil from the last time he was here, so we know what we're getting. A quality player. He's coming here as a talented footballer with some Premiership experience and he appreciates the fact I believe in him. I always like us to get the ball down in good areas, so that's something he will add because he's a Richie Wellens type of player. He looks after the ball and I want him to come here and enjoy himself, which is one of the most important things for everybody."
"I've met up with him and he has asked about training and asked about the other lads, which are things he needs to know. He enjoyed it last time and he's a little bit older now, so hopefully Neil will be good for us and we'll be good for him. Everyone is going to be fighting for places because we have a lot of good players trying to make it hard for me to leave them out. We still need cover at left-back, but I'll be pretty happy with the options I've got once Neil Kilkenny and Lee Hughes are in the squad."
