Keeper remains at Boundary Park

20-year-old goalkeeper Lance Cronin played in the Manchester Senior Cup for the Latics second string against Bury and is to remain at Boundary Park for at least another next week on trial. Cronin is a free agent after going through Brighton's School of Excellence and deciding on a career at Crystal Palace. When two new keepers were signed by Palace it was obvious that Cronin was on the way out and he spent a month on loan at Wycombe at the end of last season. He was also at Millwall for the pre season and had a game for Northampton and another trial at Barnet where finances dictated that he could not remain. He has also recently trained with Fulham.

Cronin said, "I am looking for regular reserve team football and I would love to join a club like Oldham. All the coaching staff and lads here are very friendly and I have been made to feel really welcome. At this stage in my career I need to be playing and, hopefuly, push for a first team slot. I just want to get settled and if the opportunity came to stay with Oldham I would definitely take it."
