The Latics have drawn, not unsurprisingly, League Two side Chesterfield in the Northern Area semi-finals of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. The two teams have met four times previously in the competition with the Latics yet to record a win. The tie will be played the week beginning 9th December at Boundary Park.
The remainder of the draw puts Fleetwood Town at home to Rotherham United in the other Northern Area semi-final. Swindon Town will entertain Stevenage and Newport County have a home game against League One flyers Peterborough United in the Southern Area semi-finals.
