Sean Jarvis and Neil Joy have been nominated for the Oldham Evening Chronicle’s Pride in Oldham awards after helping the club out of its deepest crisis in its 108-year history. Sean said, “The club was a ship in turbulent waters heading towards the rocks. All we have done is grab the steering wheel to take it away from the rocks, but we are still in turbulent waters.”
The dynamic duo now have two weeks to get Athletic on to firm land before the start of the season begins. This includes meetings with banks and the F.A. and there is also the difficult task of rebuilding a team which has been systematically chopped apart by outgoing ex-Chairman Chris Moore.

Sean continued, “The last six or seven weeks have been a real eye opener and the club got extremely close to liquidation. We are looking to put a strategy in place to build on the good work done last year with Iain Dowie. The optimism we have got comes from the support of the town, which has been nothing short of phenomenal. Any nomination I receive, I would dedicate to the backing of Oldham Athletic supporters.”
Neil added, “We now need to use this authority in the best interests of the club. The light shines brighter every day the club survives. We are starting from the bottom and the only way is up.”
