Latics boss manager Lee Johnson is preparing himself for other teams who may want to poach some of his young stars who are starting to gel very well. With his squad almost complete, he admits that he still needs centre-half cover.
The transfer window shuts on 2nd September and Johnson admitted, “The thing is that while it’s exciting, it’s also a little worrying because we’ve got some real saleable commodities in our group. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone did come in for one of our players. Nothing is surprising in football, but there hasn’t been an awful lot of movement this summer and we have got some decent players who people from higher divisions tried to take. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get an offer or two, but if that proves the case obviously we’ll need to adjust, depending on whether we would feel like selling or not.”
