Hall goes!

Fitz Hall became the latest of Iain Dowie’s promising team from last season to move on. Southampton will complete the signing on Monday for a measley £250,000. Cardiff and Everton had previously offered more for ‘One Size’ but Saints boss sold the club to Fitz. Strachan said, “This was a great opportunity to sign someone for a very realistic fee and we can try and improve him as a player.”

His opposite number was fuming however. After losing Chris Armstrong for a knock-down £100,000 last week Dowie said, “We have lost another player and that is a big blow considering the fee he has gone for. I wasn't aware of the deal and I already had a higher offer from another club, but the clubs are in agreement and Fitz was sold on what he saw. Southampton is a great club and one I know well and Fitz has a chance to secure his family's future. He has been a pawn in this game and is a close personal friend of mine, so I knew his situation, but it is disappointing when you are building for a season and you are not part of the discussion loop.”

Good luck Fitz, we all wish you well. Hopefully, there will be a sell on clause so that we can benefit when he becomes the multi-million player that we know he will be.
