Gavin Gunning has finally put pen to paper and has agreed to a one month deal at Boundary Park. Gunning has featured in nearly all of the pre-season friendlies and may make his full debut at Walsall tomorrow in the season opener.
Manager Darren Kelly commented, “Gav is held in the very highest regard by people who have worked with him. He has a real presence about him. He had injury issues last season and is getting into his stride. He’s getting stronger with each game. At the end of a month we’ll assess it again.”
It is expected that the 24-year old will compete with Middlesbrough loanee Jonathan Burn for a spot alongside James Wilson in the heart of the defence. Kelly concluded, “Jonathan is a commanding presence at the back and very much a leader, despite being young. He is highly thought of within the game and fits in well.”
