Darren Kelly has confided that former on-loan defender Anthony Gerrard could be a transfer target. Gerrard is the cousin of Liverpool legend Steven and he played six games in his time on loan at Boundary Park.
Kelly said, “I know the guys speak highly of him. I have seen him and been impressed. There are a lot of players we have in mind and realistically we won’t get them all. I will chat to them and then it is about them buying into what I want to do. If they come to Oldham it may not be about the money, but the achievement of a promotion. I need that leadership in there at centre-back. The spine of my team has to be strong and there will be experience mixed with younger players. I have to have a good look at areas to strengthen.”
