Athletic have pulled out of a controversial move to bring former England star Paul Gascoigne to Boundary Park. It is suggested that they were prepared to meet his wage demands as it was thought that higher crowds would have paid for the move. Gascoigne would have had to prove his fitness and commitment to playing in Division Two but the deal is definitely off. We at FootyMad suggest that this is a mere publicity stunt.
