Frankie Bunn was delighted with his sides fightback to snatch a 3-3 draw against Colchester after trailing 3-1. Two goals from Sam Surridge and a Peter Clarke header secured the point after a dour first half.
Bunn said, “I've been through a lot of emotions this afternoon, ups, downs and everything in between that 90 minutes and just grateful to come through the other end of it. To go down like we’ve done and come back like did shows the character of this side and I thought the boys were terrific today. That’s the team spirit we’ve got, we said before the game it’s not about just the 11 players on the pitch today its everyone connected with the squad. If we're going to do anything this year it has to be with everybody and this is what we’re trying to promote and build, team ethic, team spirit and they work their socks off. A little bit of quality here and there was missing, but the determination and spirit they showed was fantastic.”
“We can't prepare for the way the corners came, the first one we had the ball and passed it out for a corner and one's come off one our lads back, but ultimately we haven’t defended properly. Defensively for the goals it was poor, but other than those goals I didn’t see anything else to trouble us, I know we conceded three goals, but they didn’t create much else. It was freakish in the way two of the corners occurred, but it’s no excuse and we have to deal with it better in future. You try and pick up points wherever you can, we’ve had a great result at Grimsby and I thought some of our play was great up until a point today. It just didn’t look like it was going to be, but we’ve come away with a point and we move onto next weekend and every game is equally as important.”
