It was a weird situation before the Crawley home game as the Latics' officials attempted to ban their own fans from entering the bar in the OEC Joe Royle stand for a pre-match pint. Moroccan owner Abdallah Lemsagam has fallen foul of the Oldham faithful, whose faith is being severely tested.
A fan-led group now operate the stand but the club stationed stewards on the door to the bar in a bid to stop anyone without a match ticket from entering, stating that they did so for health and safety reasons. Attendances have dropped dramatically after the club were relegation to League Two and the situation has not been helped by the constant turn over of managers who frequent the revolving manager's door. Inept signings have only added fuel to the fire as the club struggle to remain in the bottom tier of professional football.
