Eyres explained, “I went to flick the ball away and the challenge came in on the top of my foot putting a hole in my boot. I didn't think too much of it at the time and carried on as it was numb and I couldn't feel the pain. Then Simon the physio came on to see John Eyre and I asked him to have a look at my foot. He said it didn't look good and when we went off at half time I looked at it closer and there was a hole in the top of my foot. There was also a lot of blood. I went back out for the second half but it just got worse and I had to come off. It's very frustrating picking up the injury and knowing that I will have to sit it out for the next few weeks. There are still certain things I can do including upper body exercises and cycling as I've got a special protective boot to wear.”
