Glasgow Rangers’ boss Steven Gerrard is the latest manager hoping to table a successful bid for Latics' highly rated defender George Edmundson. The 21-year-old has already held talks with the former Liverpool favourite and Gerrard is trying to convince Edmundson to move to Glasgow, thus snubbing offers from several English clubs.
According to rumours, Peterborough United have already made verbal offers for the 6'-3" centre half but Gerrard is hoping that the VIP treatment afforded to George on his visit, and the facilities at Rangers will help to swing it in favour of the Glasgow outfit; plus the fact that they don’t come much bigger than Rangers with their 50,000 regular and enthusiastic fans.
Since Edmundson was named in the League Two team of the year he has been in high demand and is rated in the £500,000 price range. He appeared in 54 games last season and won the ‘Community Trust Player of the Season’ as well as the ‘Players Player of the Season’ awards and Hull, Preston, Sunderland, Stoke as well as the Posh have all shown interest.
