The hunt for defender George Edmundson is increasing with the Latics unprepared to sell on the cheap. They have stated their intention of trying to hold on to the talented youngster by doubling the asking price. Owner Abdallah Lemsagam has said that he won’t listen to offers of less than £1 million.
Several clubs are in the chase but it's Glasgow Rangers that have emerged as favourites and, according to reports, Edmundson has already been up to Glasgow for medical tests. Rangers are reported to have had increased offers of £400,000, £500,000 and £600,000 all turned down by the Latics' owner.
With one year left to run on his current contract, Lemsagam would be prepared to allow the defender to run his contract down. This means that the 21-year-old could leave at the end of next season on a free transfer, although compensation could be claimed under these circumstances.
