Defender Dean Holden (pictured) is poised for a comeback after undergoing knee surgery. He has recovered well from a minor operation and played in the reserves game against Huddersfield. The injury during pre-season foiled his chances of starting as Athletic’s first-choice right-back.

Shaun Garnett has also been given permission to play again after being out of action for almost 12 months. Garnett damaged his knee against Colchester United last September. Tests have showed that the knee is now strong enough
and Shaun has been training for the past month. He also played in the Huddersfield game.
