New signing Zak Dearnley was absolutely deighted to have scored on his debut and was also pleased with the way his first senior game in professional football, at Crawley, panned out. Dearnley scored the second goal in the impressive 3-0 win, a fitting way for caretaker manager Peter Wild to bow out.
Dearnley confessed, “It's a great experience for me, my first professional league game and goal what more could you want. It was a great atmosphere out there and like I said a great experience and I loved it, every minute of it. I just thought go for goal when I got the ball. I said to the boys before if I come on, I want to score. If it’s your first professional league game then it's all you think about, it's a dream you just want to do the best for the team. The last game got delayed but, in a way, it was good because it gave me time to prepare, get to know the lads more and it was great experience all together.”
“I've gone on loan for the first time. I've not known anything else but Manchester United so everything is a great experience to come see the lads, see the different managers, the way they prepare for games. It's great, so I'm loving every minute of it. I think the club can go very far with us only being nine points off the play-offs now. With 16 games left I think we've got a great bunch of lads and I think we can go well together, especially if we get our heads down and work hard in training. He's been brilliant [Peter Wild]. He's took me in like one of his own and I've loved every minute of it. He's helped me settle in, made me feel welcome, comfortable and he's been great for not just me, but all the lads.”
