Dowie Reflects

Iain Dowie reflected on the Plymouth draw and said, “They are a good side. They pass the ball around well and I don’t think they’ve been dominated as much at home as we did in the first half. Ernie hit the bar and Muzza and Calvin were through one on one. Ernie should have scored in the first minute and after we scored the goal, they only had one effort and it went in.”

“Les is disappointed with the goal but he’s been outstanding and Paul Wotton’s got good ability on the ball as well as good delivery. On the sending off - John Sheridan has got an 8 inch gash on his shin. It started up near his knee and John says Friio went over the top. There was a bit of reaction from both players, stupidity really.”

“It was a sloppy bit of marking for their second goal and that’s not like us. We’re normally very good on set pieces. We get ourselves back in the game and we had a great spell there. Scott and Calvin linked up well and when Matt O’Halloran came on we really started to turn up the heat and he was also involved in the goal.”

“There was a further problem with Paul Murray getting sent off and I don’t see for the life of me how that’s a sending off. His first booking was nothing but the referee said it was a leg breaking tackle. If he sees that as a leg breaking tackle then we’ve got a problem. It’s a passionate place and there’s never a dull game for us. It was a good result with 9 men. If we had 10 against 10 we maybe could have snatched something.”
