Dowie given a boost

Iain Dowie was given a boost for his team plans for the weekend with the news that Chris Killen will be available after recovering from injury. Killen has missed three games with a hamstring problem but hopes to be available for selection for Saturday’s clash with Huddersfield Town.

Killen cost £200,000 from Manchester City and was in fine goalscoring form before his injury. Carlo Corazzin has proved to be a capable stand in during his absence and has helped the club to its longest winning run for 12 years. Young Wayne Andrews has also performed well alongside the devastating Clyde Winjhard.

Manager Iain Dowie was being close lipped about his selection but did say, “You always want a player of Chris’s ability to be involved.” The Latics are expecting a bumper crowd when ex-manager Mick Wadsworth brings his team to town.
