Dowie disappointed with performance

Talking after the LDV win over Hartlepool, Iain Dowie said, “I'm not best pleased with the way that the game finished but you know, we've got a very thin squad and we've got to be very careful of burning people out. We've got young Danny Hall, Chris Killen with his foot problem, Eyresey's 39, John Eyre's been magnificent for us with his workrate and energy and Dean Holden's got a thigh problem that we're concerned about. We decided to make some changes and it looked like a good decision early on, but I felt that we didn't show any of our customary resilience. To be fair some of the young lads did great. There was a great ball from Marc Tierney to set up the goal.”

“We made a few changes and they had their full strength side out so it was going to be a problem for us but we're disappointed with the goals that we gave away. Nonetheless you give them credit. They played well. I always want my teams to play. There's no question of that. I'm never going to hump the ball. But when it's got to go it's got to go and we didn't do that too well today in terms of our clearances. Again if you look at the side that won the game it makes it ten games unbeaten. That's what I'm taking out of it. People say it's not about the result it's about the performance. Well I'm taking the result. I'm not taking anything out of the performance.”
