Zak Dearnley has rejoined the Boundary Park ranks. Zak spent time on loan at the Latics and his aim is to establish himself in the team.
He was at Manchester United during his youth career and said, “I'm delighted to be back here after my loan spell last year and for me it was the best few months I've had in football. I really enjoyed my time at the club. With my loan last year it was a good time scoring on my debut, so it's nice the fans will be aware of me and it was an easy decision to make. I learnt a lot whilst here in my first spell as U23s football is completely different to first-team football. So now I'm coming in with a bit more experience, I know about what is expected going into games so you definitely learn a lot being on loan and would recommend it to any young player really.”
“I had a bit of time out of football, some things happened. I've reflected on it and learnt from it. So I'm getting fit now and happy to be back at Oldham. It was good to detach yourself away from football sometimes as it can be demanding, and it allowed me to just get back to basics, relax, chill-out and recover. I met the gaffer before signing and he seems really good and nice. He just said to come in, enjoy it, get fit, get back playing and move on from there. When I walked back into the place all of the lads were sound it felt like we knew each other for a long time. I like everyone and get on with everyone so there's not a problem and I can concentrate on my football now with the tight knit group.”
“You've got to give your all for the club. It's like everything in life. I've scored one goal for the club last season and obviously I would've liked to score more, but for this time round I know I will get a few more goals and I think it's important to keep the fans onside because at the end of the day you're playing for them, it's their club as well. The fans that know me from last year, my debut from the people that have seen that, that's me. Fast, explosive, direct, can get a goal, can assist as well, so I'm just looking to do more of the same this time round on a more regular basis.”
