Full back Dean Holden (pictured) has been selected as team captain for the upcoming season in League One. After making the selection manager Brian Talbot said, “Dean played very well towards the end of last season and put in a number of committed displays. He's a player who's played at the top level. I've spoken to his former manager at Bolton, Sam Allardyce, and Sam says he would have been a top player for Bolton if he hadn't suffered a broken leg. Dean has showed a good attitude and I hope that the extra responsibility of being captain will help him to mature as a player.”

A delighted Dean Holden said, “I'm absolutely overjoyed. It's a real confidence boost for myself and hopefully I can lead the lads off to a good start. I've got a good relationship with the rest of the lads and hopefully we can really go places next season. The manager mentioned the possibility of me becoming captain at the end of last season but the issue was still up in the air as Paul Murray was captain then and if Muzza had stayed he would have remained the captain, but he left and when I reported for pre-season training the gaffer told me I was going to be the captain so I was delighted. I think a lot of people saw how much of a lift being captain gave to Paul Murray's performances last season and hopefully it will do the same for me.”
