The Latics were once again in court on Wednesday to face a winding up petition hearing at the High Court in London. However, a senior insolvency judge dismissed the case which had been brought by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs over an unpaid tax bill. As it turned out, the club had already paid the bill.
A spokesman for the club said, “The debt was paid in full a while ago, in any event we have not been served with the petition and when I spoke to the Court there was no certificate of service on file. The petition has not been advised and the Court also confirmed that a certificate of compliance had not been filed, the court hearing was a mere formality and was nothing to worry about."
